This has to be my favourite construction to date. The client lives in a terraced house near Nestlé, York. The client wanted the garden paved but did not want slabs.
After many hours of searching we came across what you can see. The cobbles are Limestone. The Limestone is incredibly hard and could easily be used for a driveway.
As you may be able to pick out the mortar that lies inbetween the setts has been coloured a browny / pink colour. This complements the Limestone brilliantly and also changes colour, as the Limestone does, when wet.
The construction was very labour intensive as all the setts were laid individually and wet pointed. Wet pointing takes time and patience but is more than worth the result.
